The Office of the eSafety Commissioner welcomes the Government’s announcement of $10 million to be allocated in the 2019 Federal Budget for the establishment of an Online Safety Grants Program.
The four-year program, to be administered by the eSafety Office, will make $2.25 million of grants available per annum for non-government organisations with expertise in children’s online safety.
Under the program, eligible NGOs will be able to apply for grant funding to deliver projects to improve online safety of Australian children. This may include education initiatives, assistance for parents, community and frontline support groups, or projects tailored for the online safety needs of vulnerable communities.
The eSafety Office is currently working to develop the guidelines, eligibility criteria, application process and other related aspects of the program, with the program due to commence early in the 2019-2020 financial year.
