Social media self-defence for elite and pathway athletes

This one-hour presentation is designed for emerging or elite athletes with a public profile. It will provide information and guidance on:

  • Types of online abuse and weapons commonly used
  • The impacts of online abuse personally and professionally
  • Setting up social media accounts with safety in mind
  • Using proactive actions and de-escalation strategies including reporting
  • Support services and free resources.

Session time: Thursday 22 May 2025, 1.00 to 2.00 pm.

Online safety for sport clubs

This one-hour presentation is designed for community sport clubs. It will provide tips and guidance on:

  • Types of online harm in sport
  • How to deal with online harm
  • Tips for creating a safe online environment in your club
  • eSafety’s reporting schemes
  • Common issues in sport
  • Resources to help clubs.

Session time: Tuesday 14 May 2025, 1.30 to 2.30 pm.

Presentations

Our online safety experts provide this training for administrators, coaches and managers, subject to availability. It is not for players or anyone under the age of 18 years. 

Participants will learn about:

  • current trends in social media use, particularly in sporting environments
  • the importance of having a social media policy and how these policies relate to existing codes of behaviour, member protection and club/organisation policies.
  • safeguarding all members of your organisation and key online safety messages to share with their sporting community.

These presentations are usually delivered online. They are one hour long.
