When you browse the internet, your internet browser leaves a trail of the places you've visited, and can even store your passwords and keep you logged in to websites you visit. Often, this is very convenient, but sometimes you don't want other people to be able to look into what you've been doing and where you've been online. Most browsers offer a private browsing mode, in which you can browse without the browser saving the sites you visit. With Google Chrome, it's called Incognito mode, and here's how you can use it. Open a Chrome browser window. In the Menu bar at the top of the screen, choose File, and then New Incognito window. A new window will open, with a grey figure in the top corner. You're now in Incognito mode, and Chrome won't save the sites you visit or a record of any files downloaded. Be aware that any downloaded files are still saved to your computer's Downloads folder. So, if you don't want another person to see any files that you've downloaded, you'll need to delete them from the Downloads folder. |
