Changing passwords on Macs

Audio

From online shopping and banking to staying in contact with friends and family faraway, your computer has become central to modern-day life.

It is therefore important that your Mac is thoroughly secured against any prying eyes.

We strongly recommend you set a complex and hard-to-guess password on your Mac.

You can set this up on a Mac computer by first opening the Preferences pane.

Select Users and Groups.

Select your account, then select Change Password.

Opt to change your password.

Add a password.

Make sure this password is both long and hard to guess.

Avoid using things like your pet's name, your home address or even your own name.

Adding a hint here is optional, although it is recommended you don't add one so your password can't be guessed.
