What is The League?

The League is a private dating and social networking app targeted at professionals looking for serious relationships. You need to apply to join and are placed on a waitlist while The League’s team reviews your profile and decides whether to accept you. To set up a profile, you are required to authenticate with your LinkedIn and Facebook accounts. You are also encouraged to create video profiles to increase the level of authenticity within the community.

If you are accepted, the app allows you to set very specific preferences and offers you one to three daily recommendations. You can also go on live video dates with your matches, attend online speed dating parties, or join online groups. The app offers ‘smart blocking’, which uses your social media accounts to block business connections, friends and family from seeing your profile.

The League also gives you a ‘flakiness’ score, which increases if you like multiple profiles but do not send messages to your matches. Your matches can also flag your profile and report you if you are ‘flaky’ or rude through messages or on a date.

Various paid subscriptions are available that offer additional benefits. The League is owned by Match Group, based in the US.
