How to browse in incognito mode on Android devices

When you browse the internet your internet browser leaves a trail of the places you visited and can even store your passwords and keep you logged into websites you visit.

Often this is convenient but sometimes you don't want other people to be able to look into what you've been doing and where you've been online.

Google Chrome and many other browsers used on Android devices offer an incognito mode that lets you browse without recording where you've been.

Incognito mode doesn't stop websites from tracking you, but it does stop Chrome or the other browsers you're using from recording where you've been.

This video shows you how to browse in incognito mode with Google Chrome.

Open Google Chrome and tap More in the top right corner.

Tap New Incognito Tab.

This opens a new window with a grey incognito icon that indicates you're now in incognito mode.

Want to switch back to regular browsing?

On most Android devices, just tap the top of the screen and close all incognito windows.
