Tellonym is a social networking ‘honest feedback’ app that allows you to send and receive anonymous messages. These messages are called ‘Tells’.
Tellonym encourages users to answer anonymous questions as well as ask things they would not normally ask. Users can share their Tellonym link with others through other social platforms such as Snapchat and Facebook.
When creating a Tellonym account, users are asked to provide a username and password. Users also have the option of specifying their gender and adding links to other social media profiles.
Users can adjust and disable privacy settings within the app settings. This is recommended as all settings are activated by default. This includes how Tellonym collects your data and options for email communication, allowing others to find you by phone or location and showing your activity status.
Tellonym allows users to customise their safety settings. There are filters for language, sexual harassment, offensive language and spam. Specifically, Tellonym allows users to filter up to ten words. Once a user adds a word, it will not be delivered to them in any message.
Tellonym has a reporting system in place which allows users to report Tells, answers and profiles.
Users can block or report users who send hurtful or harassing messages. There are two ways to do this.
Users can be blocked by clicking on the three dots at the top of their profile, however they will be notified they have been blocked. This block prevents them from writing to you, seeing your answers, following you or seeing your activity status.
Users can also block the senders of every received Tell without revealing to the other user that they have been blocked:
Tellonym is free to download and use.
